Between January and September 2025, 326 people died in traffic-related incidents in Mexico City, according to the third quarterly Traffic Incidents report issued by the Secretariat of Mobility (Semovi). Of that total, 155 were motorcyclists, representing nearly half of all deaths recorded during the period.
The document, compiled using information from the C5, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), and the Office of the Attorney General (FGJ), notes that the total number of fatalities in 2025 was 14% lower than in the same period of 2024, although 38% higher than in 2019, the year in which these quarterly reports began to be published and when 60 biker deaths were recorded.

Farewell to biker run over in Iztapalapa
Family members and friends of Roberto Hernández, the motorcyclist who was run over last Saturday in Iztapalapa by the person driving a blue Honda car with license plates E85 BPC, said goodbye this Tuesday to the 52-year-old man.
The case went viral after motorists recorded video showing Roberto being struck by the driver, falling off his motorcycle, and then being dragged for more than two kilometers; despite calls for the driver to stop and assist the victim, the driver continued until the body was finally thrown free.
Videos, images of the license plates, and the name of the alleged owner of the vehicle circulated on social media. The car was located this Monday in the Ciudad Lago neighborhood, in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl, very close to the supposed owner’s home.
In response to the spread of photographs and mentions of the woman in whose name the car is registered, in San Juan de Aragón, the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office released a statement specifying that it had opened an investigation.
“The vehicle involved has been identified, as well as the license plates and the person in whose name it is registered. However, at this time there is no certainty regarding the identity of who was driving it at the time of the events, so investigative actions are ongoing to clarify the case.”
Eight out of ten victims were men

Collisions were the main type of incident associated with traffic-related deaths. Between January and September 2025, 49% of fatalities died in a collision.
However, skids accounted for 24% of the cumulative deaths during the period. The report specifies that all fatal skid victims were motorcycle occupants.

In terms of time of day, 62% of fatal incidents were recorded between 6:00 p.m. and 5:59 a.m. This pattern was repeated during the third quarter of the year.
